Equipping a new cellar for the demands of harvest

When Familija Estate equipped its new cellar for the 2024 vintage, the family wanted modern machinery backed by people they could rely on. Producing around 30,000 bottles a year in Slovenia’s Haloze region, the winery chose SRAML for its winemaking equipment. Winemaker Blažka highlights the practical details that make a difference: a press with a cooling jacket and adjustable programmes, removable components that simplify cleaning, and responsive technical support. Together, these help the team handle the pace of harvest while continuing to develop the family winery.

About the Company

At Familija Estate, winemaking is a family project shaped by the landscape of Haloze. The Brodnjak family cultivates terraced vineyards at Veliki Vrh, where winemaker Blažka values the region’s combination of ripe grapes and crisp acidity.
The estate’s new cellar marked an important step in its development. Its first vintage in the new facility was 2024, and the team wanted equipment that would support everyday work as the winery grows.

Their Challenge

For Familija Estate, the new cellar had to be ready for the pace of harvest. As Blažka explains, if a press, processing line or destemmer stops, the winemaking team has to stop too. Reliable operation therefore played a central role in choosing the equipment.

The winery also needed practical support alongside dependable machinery. Being able to contact someone quickly, whether to resolve a problem or ask about a pressing program, was part of the requirement from the start.

Our Solution

Familija Estate selected SRAML equipment for its new cellar, including pressing and destemming solutions. The winery can also contact the SRAML team for technical help and advice on settings.

For Blažka, a particular advantage of the press is its cooling jacket, which she values especially as harvest conditions become warmer. The press also offers ready-to-use programs and presets, with the flexibility to adjust the pressing variables to the winery’s needs.

Cleaning access is another practical strength. Removable components make more areas of the machines accessible, while materials that are easy to clean help the team manage this essential part of cellar work.

How it's done.

Key Benefits

Keeping harvest work moving. Dependable presses, lines and destemmers support the working rhythm of the cellar when the harvest schedule is busy.

Press settings the team can adapt. Built-in programs offer a starting point; adjustable variables provide flexibility. The cooling jacket is another feature Blažka values.

Access for everyday cleaning. Removable parts and easy-to-clean materials make equipment surfaces more accessible during cleaning.

A direct contact for help. Technical assistance and advice on pressing programs are available when the winemaking team needs them.

Growing year by year

Familija Estate is focused on expanding gradually, with each year bringing its own challenges. Blažka expects SRAML to remain part of that development in the years ahead. For this family winery, the new cellar is one step in an ongoing project, supported by equipment and people the team can turn to as it grows.
